2018 Victor's Place Entrada Tinto Nuevo Garnacha Monastrell
Entrada means Entry. At Victor's Place, Entrada celebrates our location at the entry to McLaren Vale, and our love of Spanish and Portuguese grape varieties. Entrada is also the village in Portugal where Alan spent a vintage studying traditional Iberian winemaking techniques.
PRODUCTION: 234 cases
GRAPE VARIETY: 60% Garnacha (Grenache), 40% Monestrell (Mourvèdre)
THE VINEYARDS: McLaren Vale
WINE ANALYSIS: Alc/Vol: 13.6%, Acidity: 8.5g/l, pH: 3.10
HARVEST: 11th of March to 10th April 2018
WINEMAKING: Early picked for vibrancy. Cold soaked for 3-5 days, partial whole bunch fermentation, pressed to seasoned French Barriques for short maturation. Early bottling. Contains minimal sulphites.
NOSE: Bright fresh cherries and red berries are aromatically intertwined with baking spices and a hint of red confections.
TASTE: The palate is balanced and fruit driven with subtle savoury tannins which holds all the heady fruit in check and contributes to a balanced and long finish. This is a wine which lends itself well to long lunches and warm days. It would be appropriate to serve lightly chilled on a warm summer day, just as they do in Spain with their Joven wines. Salud!
PEAK DRINKING: Now until 2022
